The Final List of 5th LAHDC Election, Issued By Deputy Election Officer
Kargil, August 26: The Deputy Election Officer has released the final list of candidates for the 5th general election of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil. According to the Election Department’s notification of the Union Territory of Ladakh, the election process commenced with the opening of nominations on August 16, 2023. During the nomination submission period on August 23, a total of 278 candidates submitted their nominations. The scrutiny of nominations took place on August 24, followed by the withdrawal process. Eventually, 105 candidates withdrew their nominations on August 26, leaving a total of 89 candidates in the running.
For the current LAHDC Kargil election, the list of candidates for each constituency, as provided by the Deputy Election Officer, is as follows:

In the previous 4th general election, a total of 100 candidates had contested for the 26 council seats. Following the election, an INC and NC coalition government was established, which later evolved into an NC-PDP coalition later when PDP changed its party alliance, the coalition government between NC and BJP formed.
