DC Leh Santosh Sukhadeve attends Open House meeting at DPS Leh
Leh, August 13: An open house meeting was organised by the School Management Committee, Delhi Public School (DPS) Leh, to discuss the academic and administrative issues at the school.
Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve, IAS, attended the meeting with the President, Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA), Thupstan Chhewang, and LBA Youth Wing, President, Rigzin Dorjey, in presence of parents and guardians of the students. From management side, Pro-vice chairperson Devinder Singh Arora, Director DPS, Leh, Maj Gen Mohinder Kumar Sagoch (Retd), Principal, Ms Priyam Shukla, and teachers attended the meeting.
The meeting deliberated on various issues, viz. the discrimination between local and non-local teaching staff, high rates of canteen items at the school, lack of parent-teacher meetings, fee structure and salary of the staff along with admission policy for students belonging to Economically Weaker Section (EWS).

DC Leh took stock of the current status of grievances raised by the parents as well as by the teachers. Stressing on the importance of good quality education, DC Leh emphasised on the School Management for immediately redressing the complaints and grievances of the students and parents. Under no circumstance children’s education should be allowed by the management to suffer, the DC said.
The DC suggested the management to address the issue of motivational increments in salary as raised by teachers and to strictly follow zero tolerance policy for any disparity in this regard. Further, he directed the management to ensure that the school canteen provides good quality and nutritional food at reasonable rates.
LBA President, Thupstan Chhewang expressed his gratitude to Hon’ble LG Ladakh and all other stakeholders for organising such a fruitful discussion for addressing the grievances of parents and local teachers of the school. He also assured that the LBA will support the DPS Management to improve the quality of education in the school.
Earlier, Director DPS Leh, Maj Gen Mohinder Kumar (Retd) welcomed the participants and briefed them about functioning of the school and promised early resolution of concerns raised by the people of Ladakh and parents of students enrolled in the Delhi Public School, Leh.
