UT Ladakh Establishes Central Receipt Unit for Streamlined Communication
VoL Desk, July 11: The Administrative Secretary, Information Technology Department, UT Ladakh, has issued a circular aimed at improving communication efficiency within the Secretariat of the UT Administration. The circular, referenced as Circular No. 15-LA (GAD) of 2023 dated 11-11-2020, addresses the implementation of eOffice and the need for a centralized system for handling incoming and outgoing correspondence.
As per the guidelines outlined in the circular, the existing Receipt/Dispatch Sections within the Secretariat will be transformed into a Central Receipt Unit (CRU). This new unit will operate in accordance with the eOffice platform, ensuring that all incoming and outgoing dak (official correspondence) is uploaded onto the eOffice Platform by the CRU on a daily basis. This transition aims to facilitate seamless communication between officers through the e-Office platform.
Despite the successful implementation of the eOffice platform, it has come to light that physical communications are still being entertained within the UT Secretariat in Leh. Dak in physical form continues to be presented to Administrative Secretaries. To address this matter, the IT Department has decided to establish a common Central Receipt Unit. This unit will serve as the central hub for all receipt and dispatch of dak for respective administrative departments. The intention is for officers to access and handle their communications solely through the e-Office Receipt system, forwarding them to the relevant recipients with necessary directions.

The establishment of this Central Receipt Unit is expected to significantly enhance the efficiency of departmental workflow. It will empower Administrative Secretaries and officers to attend to dak and communications even while outside their offices, allowing them to stay connected and up-to-date with the progress of office work through the e-Dak and e-Office platforms. This move aligns with the primary objective of the e-Office platform, which aims to streamline communication processes.
To ensure compliance with the eOffice guidelines, all Administrative Secretaries of UT Ladakh are urged to personally intervene and provide necessary directions to their respective subordinate staff. It is now mandatory that all communications within administrative departments be exclusively handled through the common Central Receipt Unit (CRU) using online/e-Office modes. This directive is designed to foster a smooth transition towards a paperless and efficient communication system.
