Kargil, July 27: In celebration of the 3rd anniversary of the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Kendriya Vidyalaya Kargil organized a press meeting to highlight the various initiatives and achievements undertaken in line with the NEP’s vision. The In-Charge Principal of K.V. Kargil presided over the press conference and shared significant developments made in the education system.
The NEP 2020, with its core focus on fostering experiential learning and critical thinking while discouraging rote learning, has been implemented in Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) as well. Several initiatives have been put into action to embrace the principles of NEP, benefiting the students and educators alike.
One of the notable initiatives mentioned during the press conference is the upcoming 2nd Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Sammelan, which is set to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister on 29th July in New Delhi. This event will mark the occasion of the 3rd anniversary of NEP 2020 and is expected to introduce several new educational initiatives.

Balvatika, a program launched by KVS, is a step forward in embracing the principles of NEP. Along with Balvatika, the NIPUN initiative has been launched, both aimed at enhancing the overall learning experience for students. Another significant endeavor is the ‘VIDYA PRAVESH’ initiative, designed to prepare students for Class 1 using play-way methods, ensuring a strong foundation for their education.
To foster innovation and technical skills, ATL (Atal Tinkering Labs) labs have been established in various KVs across the country. Moreover, many KVs have been included under the PM Shree School program, receiving government funding to transform into model schools for their respective districts.
The press conference emphasized the importance of parental involvement in the education process. The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) initiative encourages active participation from parents, teachers, and students as key stakeholders in the teaching-learning process.
Recognizing the significance of teacher training, the government has launched online training platforms like DIKSHA and NISHTHA, along with offline workshops to equip teachers with the necessary skills to implement NEP effectively.
Vidyanjali Portal, another notable addition, supports a community/volunteer management program, enabling volunteers to directly interact with schools and share their knowledge and skills, further enriching the learning experience.
Addressing the issue of access to education, the PM e-vidya initiative has been launched, providing a comprehensive and unified digital, online, and on-air education platform. This enables students, even in remote areas, to access quality education and resources. It was mentioned that all KVs have access to the internet to facilitate the use of digital resources for the benefit of students.
As part of the NEP’s vision, 340 ATL labs and 12,347 smart classrooms have been established in various KVs across the country, fostering a tech-savvy and progressive learning environment for students.
The In-Charge Principal urged everyone to watch the live telecast on 29th July, where a host of new educational initiatives would be inaugurated. This live telecast will be broadcasted in all Kendriya Vidyalayas nationwide, inviting active participation and support from students, parents, and teachers alike.
