The Zainabiya Women Welfare Society, the women’s wing of IKMT Kargil, organized a special congregation at Zainabiya Hall in Haidari Mohalla. Thousands of women from across Kargil came together to commemorate the auspicious occasion of Eid. Prominent speakers highlighted the importance of Eid Gadheer during this gathering.
In addition, congregations were held at Trespone, organized by Anjuman-e-Jamiat Ulema Al-Ghadeer, TSG Block, and Sankoo, organized by Anjuman Sahib Zaman and Anjuman Tableghat e Imam Reza. Clerics and speakers during these occasions also shed light on the significance of the Ghadeer event.
The Ghadeer event took place on the 18th of Zia ul Hajjah during the final pilgrimage of Prophet Mohammad (SAW). On this day, Prophet Mohammad (SAW) gathered all the pilgrims and, by the order of Almighty Allah, declared Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS) as his successor and commander of the faithful. This declaration marked the perfection of the religion of Islam. During this occasion, all the pilgrims accepted Ali (AS) as their leader.
In Shia traditions, this anniversary is referred to as “Eid al-Akbar” (the Greatest Eid), Eid of Ahla-Bayt (a), and “Asharaf al-Eid” (the Most Honorable Eid). Since it was the last Hajj of the Prophet (SAW), it later came to be known as “Hajjat al-wida.” After completing the Hajj rituals, as the Prophet (SAW) was leaving Mecca for Medina, they arrived at a place called Gahdeer Khumm on Dhul Hajja 18. It was there that Gabriel revealed the verse of Tabligh to the Prophet and delivered God’s order for the appointment of Ali (a) as the Wali and Wasi (successor) after the Prophet (SAW).
