2-day free eye surgery camp concludes at CHC Sankoo
67 Cataracts, 07 Pterygium cases operated
Kargil, July 21: To reduce backlog of cataract cases, Health Dept. Kargil, organized two-day free eye cataract surgery camp at Community Health Center, Sankoo in collaboration with Perfect Vision Super Speciality (Eye Hospital Srinagar) which concluded today at the CHC.
During the camp, a total of 67 cataract and 07 pterygium cases were operated successfully. The team headed by Dr Omar Rashid renowned Phaco surgeon and Corneal surgeon of Perfect Vision Super Speciality, Dr Shahnawaz renowned ophthalmologist who provided service to the cataract patients with the assistant of Senior Ophthalmic Assistant’s Ghulam Abass, Mohd Ilyass and OT dedicated staffs participated in the camp.

The whole camp was supervised by Chief Medical Officer, Kargil, Dr Munnawar Hussain Wazir and Block Medical Officer, CHC, Sankoo, Dr Ghulaam Hussain. Free eye medicines were also distributed to all the patients present in the camp.
Locals of Sankoo, Kargil hailed the efforts of CMO Kargil and BMO Sankoo for conducting free medical camp in the area and always bringing vital services at their doorsteps.
They said such camps are proving beneficial for poor and needy people and hoped that more such camps would be organized more and more needy people can get benefited.
Mohd Hussain, a 70-year-old, patient from Barsoo said that the camp provided relief to the patients of the far-flung areas of the region suffering from common eye conditions.
“I thank to Health Department Kargil and Perfect Vision Super Speciality for organizing the highly advanced eye surgical camp in Sankoo,” he said.
