VoL Desk, June 19, 2023: In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, a retired Chokidar from the Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, identified as Tsering Wangdus, has been arrested on charges of rape and molestation. The arrest was made by the Wakha Police Station in Kargil, following swift action taken by the authorities.

According to the Station House Officer of Wakha Police Station, Stanzin Paljore the heinous incident occurred on Sunday when the accused sexually assaulted the victim. The victim was immediately transferred to the hospital for a medical check-up, and the authorities wasted no time in apprehending the suspect.

Tsering Wangdus, who was previously employed as a Chokidar, currently holds the position of Onpo.

In response to the incident, the Kargil Police have filed FIR No. 09/2023 against the accused under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 354-A (sexual harassment), 354-B (assault or use of criminal force on a woman with intent to disrobe), 376/511 (attempt to commit rape), and 506 (criminal intimidation).
