VoL Desk, June 01: Representative of the Supreme Leader of Iran, in India, Agha Mehdi Mahdavipur arrived here in Kargil today where he received a grand welcome from the LAHDC, religious organisations and people of Kargil district.

People received him at Khangral with traditional khatak and traditional flower presents. People at different villages including Wakha, Shargole, Tingdoo, Lotsum, Pashkum, TV Station, Tumail Colony, Bagh Khomeini, Baroo, etc. The students of Mutahhary Public School and other schools also gave him a grand welcome on the way.

In the evening the LAHDC Kargil organised an interactive session with Agha Mahdavipur where CEC Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan, DC Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, SSP Kargil Anayat Ali Choudhary, Chairman IKMT, President JUIAK, Representative ASZ, LAHDC Councillors and other dignitaries attended.

Speaking on the occasion, CEC Feroz Khan urged Agha Mahdavipur to develop education, and cultural ties between Iran and Kargil. He demanded to develop scope for Kargili students for admission in educational institutions of Iran.

Agha Mahdavipur while speaking on the occasion, he thanked CEC Kargil, DC Kargil, SP Kargil, political leaders and heads of religious organisations for their grand welcome. He said that it shows the love and affection of people towards the Ahlulbait and Islamic revolution of Iran.

He said that he has three aims behind visiting Kargil: first, to meet the believers, clerics and people of Kargil; second, to attend the congregation on demise anniversary of Imam Khomeini that is observed with great zeal and affection by the people of Kargil; third, to explore scope for development of cultural and other ties between Iran and Kargil and also with whole Ladakh.

He said that Kargil is not a far-flung and end region of the world but the centre of the world where people are pious, aspirational, development oriented; while geographically the region is of strategic importance and centrally located.

He lauded the people of Kargil for their support and defending their country and religion. People in Kargil are peace loving and hate extremism.

At last he thanked IKMT, JUIAK, ASZ, Qammar Ali Akhone, Sajjad Hussain Kargili, Asgar Karbalai, Haji Anayat and others for their welcome and presence on the occasion.
