Iftikhar Hussain from Remote Village of Sharchay, Batalik Tops NEET Exam in Ladakh
VoL Desk, June 14: Iftikhar Hussain from the remote village of Sharchay, Batalik, has emerged as the top scorer in the NEET exam from Ladakh Union Territory, according to the recently announced NTA results. With an impressive score of 619 marks, Iftikhar’s achievement is commendable.
Iftikhar received his early education at a Government School in Batalik until the 8th grade and then pursued his high school studies at Mutahhary Public School in Baroo. For his higher secondary education, he attended Jawahar Navodya Vidyalaya in Khumbuthang Kargil.
In Ladakh, a total of 774 candidates had registered for the NEET exam, out of which 740 appeared, and 422 candidates qualified. This success rate reflects the dedication and hard work of the aspiring medical students in the region.

This year, the NEET-UG exam witnessed a significant increase in registrations, with a record-breaking number of 20.87 lakh applicants. This figure surpasses last year’s registration count by over 2.57 lakh, with approximately 12 lakh female candidates among the registered students.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) recently declared the results for the NEET-UG 2023, which serves as the qualifying entrance exam for various undergraduate medical and healthcare programs. These programs include MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, BHMS, and BSc (H) Nursing courses.
The NEET-UG exam was conducted on May 7, 2023, and the answer key was released on June 4, 2023. Candidates were given the opportunity to raise objections until June 6, 2023. The official website provides the answer key PDF and the NEET UG 2023 response sheet for reference.
