AKSAD Raises Concerns Over Appointment of Non-Local as State Nodal Officer for PM SHRI Schools in Ladakh
Kargil, May 02: The All Kargil (Ladakh) Students’ Association Delhi (AKSAD) has expressed concern over the appointment of a non-local as the State Nodal Officer for PM SHRI by the Directorate of School Education Ladakh. They believe that this appointment disregards the unemployed youth of Ladakh who are more deserving of such an important position in their region.
In a tweet, the AKSAD stated, “We find it unfortunate that Ms Khushbu Joshi has been appointed as the State Nodal Officer for PM SHRI Schools without following the due process by the Director of Education in Ladakh. This decision deprives a deserving Ladakhi from serving in their own region.”
The unemployed youth of Ladakh are disheartened by the apparent disregard for their future employment prospects by the UT administration. These appointments, seen as favoritism and nepotism, only serve to reinforce the belief that outsiders are prioritized over locals. The AKSAD strongly opposes this decision and urges the Hon’ble LG Ladakh to revoke the appointment immediately and select an unemployed Ladakhi youth for the position of State Nodal Officer PM SHRI.

Mohammad Ismail, the President of AKSAD, voiced his disappointment in a telephonic interview with Voice of Ladakh correspondent. He pointed out that the UT administration has made the Ladakh Resident Certificate mandatory for recruitment in all gazetted and non-gazetted posts in Ladakh. Therefore, the recent appointment of a non-local candidate over deserving local candidates is deeply disheartening.
The AKSAD demands that the School Education Department rescind the appointment and instead select an unemployed Ladakhi youth as the State Nodal Officer PM SHRI.
According to the order No. 97 DSEL of 2023, dated 27-04-2023, the Directorate of School Education deputed Ms Khushbu Joshi as the State Nodal Officer for PM SHRI schools in Ladakh.
PM SHRI School is a centrally sponsored scheme by the Government of India, aimed at developing more than 14,500 schools managed by the central government, state/UT governments, local bodies, including KVS and NVS. The initiative strives to create a welcoming and nurturing environment for students, providing them with a safe and stimulating learning environment, a wide range of learning experiences, and good physical infrastructure and resources conducive to learning.
