Kargil, April 08, 2022: Department of Tourism Kargil today organized a colourful Apricot Blossom (Chuli Menndoq) festival at Garkone village in Kargil.

On the occasion, Tehsildar Kargil Kacho Asgar Ali, Assistant Director Tourism, Aga Syed Taha besides large number of national and international tourists, vloggers, village community members, PRI members, cultural artists were present on the occasion.  

Speaking on the occasion, the AD Tourism welcomed all the guests, tourists both national and international, villagers for turning up for the festival. He said the festival is aimed to promote tourism in the region and make Kargil an all-weather tourist destination.

Highlighting the potential of Aryan belt in attracting tourists around the world, AD Tourism said the festival will send out a positive message to rest of the world. He hoped that tourism will increase along with employment generation which will further push economy.

Meanwhile, a colourful cultural program was presented by the artists of Garkone, Darchicks, Sanachay and Bodhkharboo.

The district administration is committed to extend all possible support in order to give a further push for the export of apricots to national and international markets.

The AD further said that along with the unique landscapes of Ladakh, tourists during the festival also have interest to have a glimpse of local tradition, culture and food.

He hoped that the inflow of tourists along with the employment generation in tourism sector will have a massive jump in coming years which will further push economy.

Pertinently, Apricot Blossom Festival is being held across district Kargil from April 08 to 18 at various locations of the district during which visitors can witness the mesmerizing blossom of Apricot trees and its products.
