VoL Desk, April 26: After receiving complaints from local residents and a report from the CID indicating the presence of contaminated chicken, officials from various departments conducted an inspection of the cold storage facility belonging to M/S Imtiyaz Ahmad in Titichumik. On Monday, they seized chicken and beef worth Rs 13 lakhs.

The inspection was conducted by a joint team consisting of officials from Food Safety, Drugs and Food Control Organization, CA&PD, MC Kargil, and the police. During the inspection, officials discovered putrid chicken and beef meat that had been tampered with, and found that the premises were in a very unhygienic condition.

M/S Imtiyaz Ahmad, the food business operator responsible for the cold storage in Titichumik, has been charged under relevant sections of the FSS Act, specifically those related to offenses and penalties. As a result of the inspection, around 7 tonnes of chicken and beef, worth Rs. 13 lakhs, were discarded.
