Kargil, April 27, 2023: Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmed Khan today visited Barsoo Block to inspect ongoing construction works on Ichu road and also took an assessment of other developmental activities in the area.

During the visit, the CEC visited the construction site of Ichu road and walked by foot for 1.5 km to assess the status of work of the road.

The CEC was informed that out of 8600 meters, road construction works on 5200 meters stretch is completed and the Ichu road is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

Khan directed for early completion of the road by October this year saying that the road connectivity is important for the villages of Ichu as the area is not connected with rest of the district with any motorable road.

The CEC also visited Government Middle School, Shargande where he interacted with the students and faculty members and took assessment of basic facilities.

Regarding the request for reconstruction of the school building, toilets and vacancy of teachers, Khan said all necessary measures will be taken to resolve the issues and the construction work of the school will be placed in the annual plan on priority.

Earlier, Khan addressed a public delegation at Shargande village. While taking stock of the road connectivity, he said measures will be taken to complete the road works at the earliest. He directed the concerned departments to speed up all the developmental works.

The CEC said the visit to the construction site of Ichu road was aimed to assess the situation and based on the findings policy will be framed for its early completion before the end of this year.

He informed that as Ichu road has come under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) scheme, therefore, its early completion and blacktopping is expected to be done at the earliest.

Related to the construction of the footbridge, Khan said possible way out will be sorted out and regarding the construction of Old Imam Bargah and Library, necessary action will be taken.

The CEC assured to take the matter to streamline Jal Jeevan Mission works in the area with the concerned department. He further directed to do realignment of flood-prone stretches.

Councilor Barsoo Sheikh Ansari, Executive Engineer Suru Valley Division besides other concerned officers accompanied the CEC during the tour.
