Vol Desk, April 27: The Indian Army recently carried out an extensive area sanitization and unexploded ordnance (UXO) destruction operation in Kurbathang near the Astroturf Football Ground. The mission was led by officers from the 19 Engineering Regiment under the 8 Mountain Division’s command.

Under the personal supervision of the Commanding Officer of the 19 Engr Regt, 8 Mtn Div, a bomb disposal team safely disposed of approximately 17 bombs. The operation was closely monitored by the aforementioned officers and witnessed by various individuals, including Sarpanch Pashkum Issa Ali, civil officers, the SHO of Kargil, and other army officials.

Issa Ali expressed gratitude to the Indian Army for their efforts in sanitizing the area and specifically commended the officers of the Engr Regt, 8 Mtn Div, for successfully executing the bomb disposal operation.

It is worth mentioning that a tragic incident occurred a few days ago when three teenagers were injured by the explosion of an undetonated bomb from the Kargil War period in the Kurbathang Area. Sadly, one of the teenagers lost their life, while the other two sustained injuries.
