Kargil Celebrates 1189th Birth Anniversary of Imam Mehdi
VoL Desk, March 08: The Shia community in Kargil joined others around the world in celebrating the 1189th birth anniversary of the 12th Shia Imam, Mohammad Mehdi (ATFS), with great religious fervour.
The Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust Kargil organized a massive rally from Hussaini Park to Jama Masjid, culminating in a congregation.
Similarly, the Jamiat Ulema Isna Ashriya Kargil celebrated the day at the Islamia School premises, where Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor Feroz Ahmad Khan, and Executive Councillor Syed Mehdi Fazily were in attendance, along with many clerics.

Key speakers at the IKMT congregation included Chairman Baseej Ruhanion, Sheikh Hussain Rajai, Sheikh Bashir Shakir, Syed Kazim Sabiri, and Sheikh Mohammad Mohaqiq. Voice artists paid tribute to the last Imam with Urdu and Balti manqabats.
At the Islamia School, Sheikh Reza Rizwani, Sheikh Mohammad Amini, Sheikh Mohsin, Syed Mehdi Fazily, and Sheikh Mohammad Hussain Mufidi were among the speakers. Similar congregations were held at all blocks and tehsils across Kargil, while village-level gatherings took place in the evening. People decorated their houses, village peripheries, and hilltops with bulbs, colourful lights, and candles.
