Around 10,000 Adult Learners in Ladakh Take Foundational Literacy and Numeracy Assessment Test
VoL Desk, March 23: The UT Ladakh witnessed the participation of around 10,000 adult learners in the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy Assessment Test conducted across 369 Literacy Centres in both Leh and Kargil Districts. The test was conducted as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Education, with 496 voluntary trainers and 369 teachers supervising the process.
The Question cum Answer Booklet (QAB) was translated into local languages to ensure that all adult learners could attempt the test with ease. The learners were highly enthusiastic and passionate during the test, which is seen as a significant step towards literacy.
The smooth conduct of the Assessment Test in Ladakh was monitored by Shri. Gagan Kumar Kamat, the Observer from the Ministry of Education, and Director School Education Ladakh Dr. Safdar Ali IRS, who visited various centres to interact with adult learners. The Chief Education Officers and Zonal Education Officers also visited and inspected the centres for monitoring purposes.

This Assessment Test is a part of the New India Literacy Programme (NILP), a new central sponsored scheme on Education for All that is aligned with the recommendations of the National Education Policy NEP 2020.
