VoL Desk, Jan. 05: Contractual lecturers of Kargil district expressed resentment against an order of the Director School Education that has ordered promotion of 78 General Line Teachers against lecturer posts.

Hassan Hundurmani said that lecturer is a gazetted post for which there is no specific rule decided yet, except only one department which is R&B. He said that as per the CBSE and NCERT norms, there is no promotion quota for PGT and TGT posts. They are subject to 100 percent direct recruitment.

“We request the Director and Principal Secretary School Education Department to review this decision as there is no rule for gazetted posts in Education Department”, appealed Hassan Hundurmani.

“When the Education Department recruits a General Line Teacher, he gets his first time bound promotion only after seven years and after another seven years (total 14 years) he gets another promotion to become a master. However, bypassing these rules the teachers who were recruited in 2016 are now promoted to lecturers in 2023”, said Hundurmani.

On directions of the Deputy Secretary, School Education Department, Director School Education, Ladakh in a letter to the Chief Education Officer, Kargil/Leh dated December 30, 2022 directed verification of Degree Certificate obtained by PG Masters/General Line Teachers deployed against vacant post of Lecturers in various Hr. Sec. Schools of UT Ladakh.

The Chief Education Officer, Kargil in a letter to all the Zonal Education Officers and Principals directed verification of Degree Certificates obtained by PG Masters/Teachers deployed against vacant post of lecturers in various Higher Secondary Schools.

“It is to submit that the undersigned is forwarding the list of PG Masters/Teacher who are deployed against the vacant post of lecturers in different Higher Secondary
Schools of District Kargil and some of other PG master/ teachers are presently working in High School and Middle Schools mentioned in the above-referenced list received from Worthy Director School Education UT Ladakh.

“In this context, the concern ZEOS/HOI’s are directed to verify the Degree Certificates from the concerned universities and their verification report submit to this office as per list within 15 days from the date of issue of this letter enabling the undersigned to submit the required information to higher authorities well in time. The format for bonafide is also enclosed. Matter may be treated as urgent”, read the CEO letter to ZEOs and Principals.
