LAHDC Leh to revive traditional Losar celebration in the district
Leh, Dec 07: Executive Councillor for Art and Culture, Stanzin Chosphel convened a meeting today regarding the “Revival of traditional Losar celebration along with Folk Music and Dance”. Councilors from different constituencies and Dy Secretary, Cultural Academy Leh attended the meeting.
EC Stanzin Chosphel extended his gratitude to the Ladakh Academy of Art and Culture, and Languages (LAACL), Leh led by Dy Secretary, Tsewang Paljor, and addressed that LAHDC Leh in association with the academy would be conducting a week-long workshop in the proposed villages of Leh District aimed to revive the age-old tradition of Losar celebration in each village.
This workshop going to happen in 85-90 villages, 3 to 4 villages from every constituency and added that this will tend to the revival of the Losar tradition in most of the villages. Councilors from each constituency are going to lead this mega-awareness campaign.

This workshop shall be an appropriate platform to discuss preservation and promotion of the cultural heritage of respective villages. LAHDC Leh has taken this initiative to aware the masses through the mega awareness camp for the preservation of folk traditions covering almost the entire district of Leh.
LAHDC Leh under the project “Rolyangs-pa-Rogs” would distribute folk musical instruments to the beneficiaries soon. LAHDC, Leh in collaboration with LAACL Leh has also decided to conduct “Ladakh Nambardar’s Conference” on 15th of December, in which Nambardars of all the listed villages would be invited to participate in the proposed workshop for the preservation of the Cultural Heritage of Ladakh.
Similarly, LAHDC Leh would also launch a scheme on the ‘Conservation and Preservation of Heritage sites in Leh district’.
