In view of security vulnerabilities, DC Kargil directs Govt Offices to update operating systems
VoL Desk, Dec. 10: In consequent to the advisory by Cyber Security Division of NIC, HQ, New Delhi regarding the security vulnerabilities in Window 7 and Window 8 operating system software, the District Magistrate Kargil has directed all the Government offices in the district to update their systems.
“It has strictly advised all the Govt entities to discontinue the usage of the mentioned operating system due to security vulnerabilities. In view of the above, it is enjoined upon all the departmental heads
/District Officer of this District to discontinue the usage of machines and systems running on window 7 and window 8 operating system software and upgrade the windows operating system software to Window 10 or above operating system software immediately”, read the circular.
“Further, computers (Desktops /Laptop) with window 7 and window 8 operating system software and connected to NICNET shall not be allowed to NICNET connectivity w.e.f 12th Dec. 2022 till the up-gradation is access completed.

“These are mainly done as a preventive measure to ensure the security of govt network as well as government/individual data.
