The training programme focused on building competencies of PDD, UT Ladakh to address various challenges of the power department, such as vast and difficult terrain, last mile connectivity, very long HT & LT Lines, ageing infrastructure, high losses, peak power deficit, very low power tariff, and a very huge gap between average cost of supply and average revenue realisation.
As complete evacuation power in an electrical network happens through the distribution transformer it was felt that the health of a distribution transformer is the primary need for reliability and quality assurance to the consumers. The three-day session focused on design and specification, various type of new transformers with low losses, causes of failure, best practices of operations, maintenance and earthing coupled with field visits and practical demonstration of testing a distribution transformer.
The second training for 25 engineers focused on Aggregate Technical and Commercial losses and the ways and means to minimise the same. Importance of energy audit, regulatory matters, process of filing Annual Revenue Requirement before the Regulatory Commission, options available to reduce the ACoS and ARR gap.
The RECIPMT team was led by General Manager, RECIPMT Hyderabad, Aparup Paul and two senior and experienced faculty, P Narender Kumar and A P Ganguly. Chief Engineer, PDD, Ladakh, Ghulam Ahmed Mir; Superintending Engineer, PDD, Tsewang Paljor interacted with participants during the inauguration and valedictory session of the training programme.
During valediction, the participants shared the learnings from the training programme and shared that the training was needed to bridge various skill gap in the PDD of newly formed UT Ladakh.
