Climate change: A Clarion Call for Ladakh
Countries across the globe are concerned about the rapidly changing global warming and climate change. But the people in Ladakh, who are residing in the Trans Himalayan cold desert, are paying the price for a sin that is not done by them but by others residing in a pleasant climate.
This year Ladakh faced the wrath of climate change in the shape of fewer snowfall, fewer rainfall, cloud burst, floods, hot weather, and drought, and even in the month of September the weather is not normal but like summer days.
The people in the harsh climate of Ladakh have the least physical role to play that hardly would make any difference in global warming. But people in Ladakh can resort to some other measures that could help them in resisting climate change while providing a strong lesson to the external world. The people in Ladakh would also be guilty if not wake up and take necessary action in time.

The Administration is already working on the mission to make Ladakh a Carbon Neutral State that would only bear fruits if simultaneously, actions at the public level are also initiated for a far-reaching effect.
The Ladakhis must rethink their lifestyle, construction, and material of houses, irrigation methods, vegetation level, use of vehicle type, etc. We are not an expert to make a supposition in this regard but experts must sit together to think on different aspects in view of climate change before it is too late.
