IKMT Kargil condemn attack on Ashura mourners in Nigeria, Afghanistan
Kargil, August 9: Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT) Kargil on behalf of the people of Kargil strongly condemned the barbaric attack on unarmed and innocent mourners by the Nigerian police, killing half a dozen Shia mourners including Sheikh Zakzaky’s nephew Mohsen Zakzaky, who were participating in Ashura mourning procession in the city of Zaria.
In recent years, the Nigerian police have killed more than 1,000 people in a series of unprovoked attacks on peaceful Shia gatherings. The six sons of the well-known Nigerian religious and spiritual leader Sheikh Zakzaky have also been killed after being attacked by the Nigerian police, while the Sheikh and his wife have also been in prison for many years.
Earlier on Friday, in Afghanistan’s western Kabul, around a hundred mourners were killed and injured in a terrorist explosion among Hussaini mourners and again
on Saturday evening, eight people were martyred in a bomb blast in Pul Sokhta, a Shia-populated area of Kal.
The Taliban administration, contrary to its promise, has imposed new restrictions on mourning processions in Balkh province and its capital, Mazar-i-Sharif.
Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT) Kargil condemned these inhuman and brutal acts and expresses deep concern on the continued killings of the Shias in Nageria, Afghanistan and other places.
