KARGIL, AUGST 14, 2022: Govt. Model Degree College Zanskar in collaboration with Zanskar Buddhist Association on Saturday organized a talk by His Holiness Dalai Lama, titled “Social, Emotional and Ethical Learning: Educating Heart and Mind” at Duzin Photang, Padum, Zanskar.

The talk was attended by all the students studying in various educational institutes of Zanskar subdivision beside by the general public in huge numbers.

In his talk, His Holiness Dalai Lama stressed on religious harmony, secular ethics and the importance of scientific temper in the current global and local scenario.

Furthermore, His Holiness advised students to make the most out of the opportunity in education and become good and responsible human beings by inculcating the idea of love and compassion.

Nevertheless, there had been wars and social unrest in the past millennia over cast, creed, colour, ethnicity and nationalism. His Holiness stressed that all human beings are equal and it is the nature of all to live peacefully.

There is no scope in the current global scenario as modern technology has developed to such an extent that havoc caused by such weapons can be unprecedented for all flora and fauna.

The talk was followed by a questionnaire session wherein His Holiness encouraged the students to ask as many questions as possible.

His Holiness answered all the questions thoroughly and in between also shared some anecdotes from his childhood in a humorous way to lighten the gathering.

The session was very engaging for the students. Earlier Nasir Shabani Principal of Zanskar College gave a brief introduction about the college and title of the session.
