KARGIL, JULY 25, 2022: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan today chaired a meeting to review the necessary arrangements for the upcoming month of Muharram in Kargil while Additional Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Sonam Chosjor conducted a similar meeting in Leh.

Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, SSP Anayat Ali Choudhary, Superintending Engineer R&B, Nissar Ahmad Bagh, AD Tourism, AD FCS&CA, Executive Engineer PHE, CAHO, Executive Engineer R&B, CSHO, and representatives of Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust and Anjuman Jamiat Ulema Isna Ashriya Kargil attended the meeting in Kargil. 

Speaking on the occasion, CEC Khan advised the traffic police department to provide special traffic advisory for the days of Moharram and make necessary arrangements to ensure smooth traffic in the town.

The CEC also instructed the concerned departments to ensure that the cultural events are scheduled keeping in view the Hijri Islamic calendar. 

The Deputy Commissioner also assured full support from the administration and instructed all the concerned departments to make necessary arrangements as per past practice.

Representatives of IKMT and AJUIAK thanked the administration for their support and arrangements for smooth observation of Muharram. They further demanded to provide early and necessary arrangements in flood affected areas.

CEC Khan instructed the religious organizations to ensure face masks in the congregations in order to mitigate the risk of Covid-19 spread.

In Leh, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Sonam Chosjor chaired a meeting to review the necessary arrangements for the observance of Muharram in the upcoming month with the organisers Anjuman Imamia Serath Committee and concerned departmental officers.

Speaking on the occasion, ADC Leh advised the Traffic Police department to provide a special traffic advisory for the days of Muharram and make necessary arrangements.

Assuring full support from the District Administration, ADC Leh instructed the concerned officers of different line departments to make all the necessary arrangements regarding the same as per past practice. He also urged the religious organisations to ensure Covid SOPs and protocols are followed in the congregations to mitigate the spread of Covid-19.

Heads and representatives of religious organisations, viz Anjuman-e-Imamia, Anjuman Moin-ul-Islam, Anjuman Sofia Noorbakshia, Anjuman Imamia Women Wings along with the HoDs of various departments attended the meeting.
