Secretary H&ME directs concerned businesses in Ladakh to get FSSAI license
VoL Desk, June 30: Principal Secretary, Health and Medical Education Department, UT Ladakh, Dr Pawan Kotwal in a fresh circular has directed the concerned businesses to get FSSAI license/ registration.
“It is observed that most of the Food Services Operators (Hotels, Guest Houses, Home Stays, Camps etc) Govt & Private are operating their business without fssai License/ Registration which is an offence under Section 63 of Food Safety Standards”, read the circular.
The Section 63 of Food Safety Standard reads that, “If any person or food business operator (except the persons) exempted from licensing under sub-section (2) of section 31 of this Act), himself or by any person on his behalf who is required to obtain a license, manufacturers, sells, stores or distributes or imports any article of food without a license, shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months and also with a fine which may extend to five lakh rupees.

In this regard businesses falling under the above food, category is directed to apply for a fssai license as soon as possible otherwise violators will be dealt with strict action by the department, the circular maintained.
