Leh, June 18: An awareness-cum-counselling session was conducted by the Department of Drugs and Food Control Organisation, Leh with the teaching faculty and parents of the Boys Higher Secondary School, Leh at the school campus today. 

The theme for the awareness session was ‘Prevention of drug abuse among children and adolescents and illicit trafficking.

On the occasion, Psychiatrist, SNM Hospital, Leh, Dr Padma Angmo briefed about the gravity of the drug menace prevalent in the region and the drug and substance abuse cases they encounter. She stressed destigmatizing the help/ treatment sought regarding drug abuse.

Incharge Drugs Controller, UT Ladakh, Mohd Bashir added that the parents and teachers could play a crucial role in tackling the menace of drug abuse and illicit trafficking as they spend a good amount of time with the students and have daily interaction with them.
