World Tuberculosis Day observed in Kargil
KARGIL, MARCH 24, 2022: District TB Control Society Kargil today observed World Tuberculosis Day at Auditorium Hall under the theme ‘Invest to end TB’.
Acting Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC Kargil, Aga Syed Hasan Arman was the chief guest on the occasion besides acting Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Abdul Jalil, Consultant Physician DHK, Dr Ghulam Hussain Bardi, Ex-CMO and Medical Officer NHM, Dr Ibrahim Khan, Nodal Officer NHM, Dr Rabiya Banoo, Block Medical Officers of Drass and Shargole, Tutors of GNM Nursing School, students besides concerned officers of the health department were present during the event.
The acting CEC said that health is one of the precious gifts and in this regard individual and institutional level efforts are needed to eradicate chronic diseases such as TB.
While acknowledging the efforts of the health workers, he said LAHDC Kargil is indebted to their services and all measures will be taken to strengthen health infrastructure in Kargil.
Arman said that eradication of Tuberculosis must be taken as a movement in Kargil district and all efforts need to be done to eradicate TB from the district.
Acting CMO Kargil, Dr Abdul Jalil advised the students of GNM Nursing School to act as messengers in order to spread awareness regarding the disease in Kargil.
Earlier, Consultant Physician, Dr Ghulam Hussain Bardi detailed the signs, symptoms and preventive measures pertaining to TB.
Dr Bardi spoke at length on issues such as Latent TB and Chronic TB, nutrition, Tuberculosis Prevention Treatment (TPT), National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP) and other aspects related to the disease.
Dr Bardi asserted that everybody has to extend support to eradicate TB from Kargil and as everyone is at a risk to get infected from it. Therefore all preventive and medical interventions must be done in order to eradicate the disease.
Medical Officer NHM, Dr Ibrahim Khan gave a presentation on the overall scenario of Tuberculosis in Kargil district.
He spoke at length on the history of health campaigns on TB post-independence and briefed the audience about NTBEP, TB notification ratio, advocacy and community mobilization.
Earlier, the event commenced with the welcome address by Project Coordinator BTC Kargil, Syed Mohammad Musavi.
RANTHAG Theatre group presented a play on TB in which students of GNM Nursing School, Kaneez Fatima and Hamida Banoo gave speeches on various aspects of TB.
