LG Ladakh decides to fund Women’s Ice Hockey Team
Leh, 18 March: Amid the information received through various social media platforms seeking crowd funding for the Women’s Ice Hockey Team, UT Ladakh to participate in a local Women Ice Hockey Tournament being held in Dubai, the matter has come to the notice of the Lt. Governor, UT Ladakh, R.K. Mathur.
Lt. Governor, R. K Mathur has decided for funding the team from the LG discretionary fund as a special case and directed the Sports Department, UT Ladakh to reimburse the expenditure incurred by the team in order to provide exposure and encourage the Ladakh’s Women’s Ice Hockey players. Lt. Governor directed the Department to develop a mechanism and SoP for sending UT Ladakh teams in consultation with National Sports Associations/Federations in future.
It is pertinent to mention here that the UT Administration, Ladakh has already funded the Ladakh Women Ice Hockey teams to participate in National Ice Hockey Championship held at Kaza, H.P and funded for conducting Women Ice Hockey Development Camp in Drass, Kargil and Kaza H.P.

Moreover, it is to reiterate that UT Administration has always given utmost priority to the emerging talents in potential sports like Ice Hockey and Archery and facilitate exposure at National and International levels.
Further, from the upcoming financial year, all the registered sports associations and their teams of UT Ladakh are advised to share their annual calendar and timely intimation about their participation in such tournaments through their National Associations and Federations to avoid any inconvenience.
