VoL Desk, March 04, 2022: Medical and Health Education Department, Civil Secretariat, UT Ladakh notified the Ladakh Pharmacy Council Rules, 2022 in the Ladakh Gazette here on Thursday.

The rule will be followed by formation of the Ladakh Pharmacy Council that will regulate the registration of Pharmacy, functioning of Pharmacy and medical colleges in the UT of Ladakh.

The office of the Council shall be situated at Leh or any otherplace as prescribed by the Administration of Union territory, maintained the rule.

Speaking to VoL correspondent, Assistant Drugs Controller Ladakh, Mr Bashir Ahmad Banday told that the paper formalities for formation of the council has completed and the approval has also granted from concerned authorities.

The rule has been framed and approved from the LG and finally it has been notified in the Ladakh Gazette.

He maintained that it is necessary for all States and UTs to have a pharmacy council. The Council will be consist of 15 members as per rule that include ex- officio members, nominated members and elected members.

According to the rule the members must be elected, but as Ladakh has no Pharmacy Council yet, the two necessary posts of President and Secretary cum Registrar will be nominated for the first time by the UT Administration.
