Karnataka High Court Verdict on Hijab is Unfortunate – IKMT Kargil
Kargil, March 16, 2022: Karnataka High Court Verdict on Hijab is unfortunate, says the Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust, Kargil in a press release today.
“The Executive Body Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust, Kargil termed the Karnataka High Court’s decision in the recent case of Hijab in colleges in the state as unfortunate and expressed their displeasure on it”, read the press release.
“It has termed that hijab is essential requirement in Islam as per its holy book Quran and cannot be compromised.
“The constitution of India does not endorse any discrimination among its citizens on the basis of religion, cast and languages. Any discrimination by the government in this regard is viewed against personal liberty of citizen and will not hold in the apex court, the guardian of constitutional democracy.
“It is pertinent that India is a democratic country with diverse faith and religion and practice their religious symbols, colours and dress for religious needs. The Muslim Hijab is one of the choices of Crores of Muslim women in India as per their religion and they have the constitutional right to do so”, the IKMT maintained.
