VoL Desk, February 24, 2022: Lieutenant Governor, Ladakh, R K Mathur held a meeting with a team from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), informed the LG Office on Twitter.

The meeting was aimed to review their proposal on setting up the first Craft Village of Ladakh in Likir. The project aims at livelihood generation for artisans and revival of languishing crafts.

Popularising the concept of craft tourism is also the aim of the administration of UT Ladakh through the Likir Craft Village.

LG Mathur urged the NIFT team to follow a bottoms-up approach for their proposal, as also examine their economic aspects.

The NIFT team was compromised of members from Srinagar, Delhi, and Mumbai. While Divisional Commissioner, Ladakh Swagat Biswas also joined the meeting.
