VoL Desk, Feb. 17, 2022: Director General, Centre for Scientific and Indistrial Research (CSIR), Dr. Shekhar C Mande briefed the Lieutenant Governor, Ladakh, R K Mathur of the progress regarding UT Ladakh-CSIR collaborative projects.

LG Mathur stressed on the need for commercial plantation of medicinal herbs and also for Juniper keeping in view of its dwindling numbers.

LG also expressed his desire to carry out skill development programs for development of a leather value chain in Ladakh in a time framed manner with Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI).

The LG Ladakh also requested for technological assistance from Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMERI) for design and development of sea buckthorn harvester.

The officials further discussed other issues that include zinc fortification of pashmina goats; and steps to address the fodder shortage in Changthang region during winter months.
