Leh, 20 Feb: Deputy Commissioner, Leh Shrikant Suse chaired a review meeting regarding issuance of Unique disability IDs in Leh district.

 During the meeting the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Leh Motup Dorje apprised about the portal developed by Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment ( www.swavlambancard.gov.in ) where eligible beneficiaries can apply.

 DC directed all SDMs to submit calendar of camps scheduled to be held from next week in coordination with Health and Social Welfare Departments.

 He directed all concerned to give wide publicity to schedule of camps in advance through media, PRI members/public representatives, NGOs.

 He directed health department to immediately clear pendency of applications which have been already registered by beneficiaries.

 DC, Leh stressed on weekly monitoring the progress achieved and to ensure 100% saturation by 31st of March. He also emphasised to publicise self-registration to get UDIDs which can be done by the existing disability card holders by visiting to the website www.swavlambancard.gov.in.

 By having UDID, beneficiaries will not need to make multiple copies of documents, maintain, and carry multiple documents as the card will capture all the necessary details which can be decoded with the help of a reader.The UDID card will be the single document of identification, verification of the disabled for availing various benefits in future.The UDID card will also help in stream-lining the tracking of the physical and financial progress of beneficiary at all levels of hierarchy of implementation – from village level, block level, District level , State level and National level.

The meeting was attended by Chief Medical officer, Leh; All Sub-Divisional magistrates of Leh District; Chief Education Officer, Leh; District Social Welfare Officer, Leh; Medical Superintendent, SNM Hospital, Leh; District Manager, Common Service Centre, Leh and President Pagir, Leh.
