Meanwhile, heavy snowfall on the roads leading to Suru, Stakpa Umba, and Barso areas of Sanko sub-divisional headquarters has affected the movement of people.
There is also a risk of avalanches in these areas. Therefore, people in these areas should refrain from traveling unnecessarily.
People say that due to untimely removal of snow from roads and failure to put soil on slippery places, vehicles face slippage. Due to this passengers especially patients and pregnant women are facing difficulty in reaching the hospital.
People from Sankoo informed the Voice of Ladakh correspondent that the snow clearance from the road is not done properly. The machine is flatting the snow on the road instead of removing it that is resulting in becoming the road more slippery and risky.
The snowfall continues today and according to the Meteorological Department, there is no possibility of any improvement in the weather till Saturday. The weather may improve from Sunday.
