“No restrictions for Kargil taxis at Leh Airport”
KARGIL, JAN 15, 2021 (VoL Desk): Representatives of Taxi Union of both Leh and Kargil reiterated that there are no restrictions on the entry of Kargil taxis at Kushok Bakula Rinpoche Airport Leh, maintained a press release said to be issued by the traffic police today.
The Taxi Operators unions made the statement in a meeting called by RTO Ladakh and Traffic Police Ladakh in response to a news item circulating on different social networking sites/platforms by one Nissar Hussain of district Kargil.
Nissar Hussain, a patient who was traveling from Srinagar to Kargil via Leh Airport reportedly found no vehicle available for Kargil and instead got the same from some outside station, because of restriction on Kargil vehicles from entering Leh Airport.

As per the above-mentioned press release, RTO Ladakh and SP Traffic convened the meeting of Taxi Union Leh and Kargil on 15.01.2022 in the office chamber of SP Traffic.
“In the meeting, the representatives of both Taxi Union Leh and Kargil reiterated that there is no such issue as is being circulated in different media platforms and that Kargil bound taxies as per past practice were and in future also as per requirement shall collect passengers from Leh Airport with the full support of Taxi Union Leh”, maintained the press release issued by RTO and Traffic police.
“Both Unions disapproved the news being circulated on different social media groups and showed their commitment for working in cooperation with each other in the future as well.
“President of Taxi Union Leh said that already parking space for Kargil bound vehicles has been provided by the administration at Bomb Guard Leh. The meeting ended on a positive note.
Authenticating the press release, VoL correspondent spoke to President, Taxi Operators and Owners Union Kargil, Mohammad Ibrahim who said that Nissar Hussain’s complaint was also right as before the said meeting only those taxis who had generated a slip from Kargil taxi union were allowed entry at the airport.
However, in the meeting Taxi Union of both the districts have agreed to provide entry at the airport without any prior permit or slip, which is a positive development made after this particular incident of Nissar Hussain.
