VMS, Baqirya conducts Multi-Disciplinary Disability Assessment camp in Kargil
KARGIL, NOVEMBER 28, 2021: Voluntary Medicare Society (VMS) Kashmir and Baqirya Health Care and Research Centre (BHC&RC), IKMT, Kargil organised a Multi-Disciplinary Disability Assessment camp here in Kargil today.
On the occasion, Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan was the Chief guest while Executive Councillor for Social Welfare Aga Syed Hasan Arman, Chairman IKMT Sheikh Sadiq Rajaie, member Guardian Council, IKMT, Asgar Ali Karbalai, CDPO Kargil Syed Murtaza, Executive members of BHC&RC, Doctors, Paramedical Staff, volunteers, VMS representative parents and specially-abled children were present.
Speaking on the occasion, CEC Feroz Khan said that new cases of Hepatitis B have been soared in the district, for which he assured to support the BHC&RC to tackle the new cases.

CEC Feroz Khan said that the rehabilitation centre was the need of the hour in the district and he congratulated and appreciated the volunteers of VMS and BHC&RC for taking this noble responsibility on their shoulders. He further stressed the general public to negate the social stigma regarding these specially-abled children to help them to build a healthy society.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Aga Syed Armaan said that the establishment of the BHC&RC was the vision of IKMT’s founding member Sheikh Hussain Zakiri that is now benefiting the whole district, especially the downtrodden and poor section.
Haji Asgar Karbalai in his speech encouraged parents and urged the community to participate in such activities.
The rehabilitation centre was established in the year 2019 in collaboration with VMS Kashmir dedicated to the care, treatment and rehabilitation of the potential beneficiaries and for the upliftment of the society.
Occupational therapists train patients in Activities of Daily Living (ADL) by relearning a variety of daily activities like eating, dressing and personal hygiene.
Assistive technology devices like mobility aids are provided after proper assessment and taking the community into consideration for purposeful usage.
The organisations aim at the holistic development of the infant or young child in communication, thinking, and motor skills through the use of intervention techniques like neuro-development treatment, etc.
It was informed that to date 284 specially-abled children are registered with a success story of 25 to 30 specially-abled children who receive physio, speech and cognitive therapy.
The programme began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by CEO BHC&RC Mr Zakir Hussain. Advisor Baqirya Mr Nasir Shabani delivered the welcome speech. Physiotherapist Dr Zakia gave a detailed reporting of the rehabilitation centre and various activities of the health organisation.
Advisor Baqirya Dr Ahmad Ali informed the public about the upcoming activities and modernization of technology and usage for specially-abled children.
Locomotive and hearing aids were distributed among the needy beneficiaries by the guests and ended with a word of thanks and dua by the chairman IKMT Sheikh Sadiq Rajai.
