Transparent process followed to choose Ladakh Tourism logo: press release

Leh, November 2: In light of the feedback on social media on release of the Tourism Logo on 31st October, 2021, it is felt necessary to inform the people of Ladakh at large about the process followed in selecting the Logo, said a press release issued by DIPR Leh.

“The Department of Tourism, UT Ladakh Logo released on 31.10.2021 has undergone a selection process of Logo design through open competition. In this regard designs/proposals were invited through notice dated 29.05.2020”, maintained the press release.

“Further, to attract more competitive and better designs the date for submission of Logo designs/proposals was extended till 28.01.2021 vide notice dated 13.01.2021. In the said notices the prize money of Rs. one lakh was also notified. Wide publicity was given to ensure better participation. In response to these notices, the Department received 183 entries from various parts of the country.

“In order to select the Logo the Department of Tourism had constituted a committee comprising of representatives from stakeholders and concerned Departments. The 183 entries received by the Department were evaluated by the committee through a marking system. The top 30 entries after compilation of the marks assigned by the committee members were sent to LAHDC, Leh & Kargil for their inputs/marking. After including the marks assigned by the LAHDC, Leh & Kargil, the final winner was selected. So following a very transparent process the final Logo was chosen, which was duly approved by the competent authority.
