SVEEP Awareness Programme for SSR of Photo Electoral Roll held at GDC Kargil
KARGIL, NOVEMBER 06, 2021: With the objective to ensure greater participation for a stronger democracy, a SVEEP Awareness Programme for Special Summary Revision (SSR) of Photo Electoral Roll with reference to 01-01-2022 as the qualifying date was organized by the District SVEEP Team Kargil at Government Degree College (GDC) Kargil here today.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kargil Tsering Motup was the chief guest on the occasion while the awareness programme was attended among others by the Tehsildar Kargil Muhammad Saleem Wazir, Nodal officer SVEEP Ghulam Rasool Lal, Incharge Principal GDC Kargil Dr Javed Iqbal Naqi, Konchok Chhorol Assistant Professor Political Science GDC Kargil, BLOs and a good number of students.
ADC Tsering Motup in his address urged students and BLOs to spread the awareness about the SSR among the local community. He also asked students to get in touch with their concerned BLOs to ensure their enrolment in the electoral roll.
Tehsildar Kargil Muhammad Saleem Wazir stressed students to spread the message of greater participation for stronger democracy among masses as much as possible. He also thanked the BLOs and students for their enthusiastic participation in the awarrness programme.
Nodal Officer SVEEP Ghulam Rasool Lal informed on the occasion that the primary goal of SVEEP is to build a truely participatory democracy in India by encouraging all eligible citizens to vote and make an informed decision during the elections.
In Charge Principal GDC Kargil Javed Iqbal Naqi thanked SVEEP Team Kargil for organizing this fruitful program at GDC Kargil and said that college has celebrated Voters’ Festival, Youth Parliament and different other programmes related to participatory democracy in the past, adding he assured to organize similar events in future as well.
Assistant Professor Konchok Chhorol highlighted the importance of fundamental rights and duties while Bashir Hussain, Core Member SVEEP threw light on electoral rights, functionaries and Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELCs).
ELC Head GDC Kargil Muhammad Ishaq thanked all the guests and audience for participating in the program and making it successful.
Anwar Hussain Core Member SVEEP conducted the proceedings of the programme.
Pertinently, Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) is the flagship programme of the Election Commission of India for voter education, spreading voter awareness and promoting voter literacy in India.
