Secretary Industries Launches reports on Pashmina, Seabuckthorn, and Apricot
Leh, Nov 22: The Department of Industries and Commerce, UT Ladakh in collaboration with One District One Product (ODOP), Invest India is organising a 3-day workshop from 22nd to 24th November, on emerging trends in Pashmina, Seabuckthorn and Apricots as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration. Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Saugat Biswas was the chief guest for the inaugural session.
Secretary, Saugat Biswas applauded the collaborative efforts of Industries and Commerce Department, Ladakh and ODOP, Invest India for organising such important workshops. In his interaction with the participants, Secretary Biswas inquired about their experience of the workshop and suggestions required to take the handloom sector forward in the UT. He also directed the officers from the concerned department to procure two different looms from Kashmir.
Addressing the participants, Secretary Biswas urged them to experiment with different looms to enhance their entrepreneurial opportunities.

The workshop focused on ‘Craft and Design Program in Pashmina Weaving’, in which a total of 22 participants were trained by national awardee in Pashmina Kani Shawl, Fayaz Ahmad Mir. He highlighted the different aspects related to Pashmina from sourcing of raw materials to the end finished product, including spinning a finer quality of yarn, diagonal weaving technique and creating natural dyes.
The workshop was concluded by report launches of Pashmina, Seabuckthorn and Apricot by Secretary Industries, Saugat Biswas in presence of Deputy Commissioner Leh, Shrikant Suse; Director, Industries and Commerce, Moses Kunzang and followed by certification and sample distribution.
It was also informed that a similar kind of workshop would be conducted at Kargil in the coming days.

Wellcoming initiatives…. The launch by ut Ladakh is meaningfull track for the feature generation of Ladakh but need is to place on ground soon.
