Com. Secy. Sahu inspects construction of truck terminal, slaughter house, JJM works in Kargil
KARGIL, NOVEMBER 09, 2021: Commissioner Secretary Public Works Department, Housing & Urban Development and Estates UT Ladakh Ajeet Kumar Sahu today inspected the feasibility of land for construction of truck terminal and slaughter house at Kharool, took stock of the status of works completed at Sodh Lift Irrigation Project and progress achieved on Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) works at Sodh Block here today.
Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, Director Urban Local bodies (ULB) Ladakh Dr Zahida Banoo, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Tsering Motup, Superintending Engineer PWD Tashi Tundup,Tehsildar Kargil Muhammad Saleem Wazir, Executive Engineer PHE Subhash Chandra, Executive Engineer I&FC Muhammad Hassan, Executive Engineer R&B-II Kacho Mehmood Ali Khan, General Manager National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL) Col A K Shiv Kumar besides other concerned officers accompanied the Commissioner Secretary during the tour.
In order to ensure judicious use of the land available for construction of truck terminal at Kharul, Commissioner Secretary Sahu directed the concerned officers of PWD and NHIDCL to revise the design to suit the site condition as well as to create space for maximum number of trucks and accommodation for drivers and stranded passengers by accommodating additional space available.
While inspecting the ongoing works of the slaughter house, the Commissioner Secretary directed the concerned officers to review plan in consultation with the stakeholders and prepare its operational plan as well.
The Commissioner Secretary PWD also inspected the progress achieved on the construction of Sodh Lift Irrigation Project and directed the Executive Engineer PHE to operationalise the 1st phase by March 2022. He also directed the concerned to engage consultant for ground water survey and mapping of the area to find alternate source.
Sahu directed the Deputy Commissioner Kargil to consult KREDA to examine feasibility of solar power for the lift irrigation project considering its high demand of electricity to make the project operational.
Later, the Commissioner Secretary also inspected the ongoing JJM works at Yurbaltak. He stressed on the need of providing tap connection to every household within the main building. He also asked DC to early prepare the grey water management plan for every household through RDD to ensure proper disposal and reuse of waste water.
