Capacity building workshop for JJM contractors held in Leh

Leh, Nov 18: A one-day workshop on Jal Jeevan Mission in Ladakh was organised by the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department, UT Ladakh in coordination with National Jal Jeevan Mission, Ministry of Jal Shakti, GoI, to improve the implementation and capacity building of executing agencies/contractors, implementation support agencies (ISAs) and third-party monitors (TPMs). 

Water quality expert Parikh Shukla and water supply expert TS Babu from Ernst & Young LLP spoke on JJM, its objective, components, the current status of implementation of JJM in Leh district, and planning and execution approach in DPRs.

They informed the contractor about the salient features of bid documents, operation and maintenance mechanism, health safety and environment while executing the project work and taking safety measures against Covid-19.

Associate Vice President, Social Infrastructure, Ernst & Young LLP, Prateek Gupta, inquired about the problems faced by the contractors, ISAs and TPMs while implementing the JJM scheme in Ladakh.

Chief Engineer, MED, Farid Chaudhary, highlighted the importance of conducting such workshops and also spoke about the problems faced by the stakeholders. He also spoke on the long-term benefits of JJM in the region.Consultant, NJJM, DS Dhapola, gave a detailed presentation on the role of ISAs.

He highlighted the importance of ISAs in implementing JJM. Ramesh Rana Singh from NJJM gave a detailed presentation on the role of TPMs and explained the scope of TPM, the responsibilities of ISAs and the issues faced by them.Chief Engineer PHE/I&FC, Ved Prakash, gave the vote of thanks.

He also spoke on the issues faced by the contractors.NJJM Experts; Chief Engineer PHE/I&FC; Chief Engineer, MED; Chief Planning Officer, Leh; PHE Engineers; PMU Team; Executing Agencies/ Contractors; Third-Party Monitors (TPMs); Implementing Support Agencies (ISAs) attended the workshop.
