GDC Drass organizes seminar on Sustainable Development with Reference to Ladakh
KARGIL, OCTOBER 27, 2021: On the 3rd day of the Iconic Week Celebration under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Government Degree College (GDC) Drass organized an online seminar on the theme Sustainable Development with Special Reference to Ladakh wherein Rohit Rattan, Associate Coordinator of the Western Himalayan Landscape of WWF-India spoke elaborately on the global goals of sustainable development, measures to achieve these goals starting at a local level, community based tourism, eco tourism, preservation of the wilderness and reduction of human impact on the environment and more.
He emphasized on how a Community Based Tourism (CBT) is the way forward and how it can help in providing equitable opportunities for economic participants during economic growth with benefits being incurred by every section of society.
The presentation was followed by a brief Q&A session with the speaker.
Principal GDC Drass Dr Amjad Ali Abassi gave the concluding remarks, which was then followed by an interactive session with the students. He stressed upon the need for students’ participation for a shared common future.
