CEC, DC visit upper Baroo
Listen to public demands, grievances
KARGIL, AUGUST 06, 2021: In order to take stock of the public grievances and issues of Upper Baroo, Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan along with the Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve visited the area here today.
Councilor Baroo Minji Constituency Sheikh Ghulam Mehdi, Municipal Committee Ward Members of Baroo Halqa and community members of Baroo, Biamathang, Baroo Colony, Baroo Tsok were present on the occasion.

Ward Member from Baroo Advocate Khadim Hussain presented a memorandum to the CEC highlighting key issues like the requirement of new irrigation scheme with khul for Baroo Gongma and Dembeshong, new drinking water project for whole Baroo area, maintenance of irrigation khul at Titichumik, compensation for land and trees coming under road alignment works , installation of high pressure pump with 6 inch pipeline at existing lift drinking water scheme, snow protection bund at Sarilungma, installation of street lights, construction of public latrines, deployment of sweepers and other related demands.
Speaking on the occasion, CEC Feroz Khan said that most of the government offices are in Baroo which became possible only because of the people who provided land. He said that the administration is very thankful for their contribution for this cause.
Responding to the demands projected by the public, the CEC assured that the concerned departments will be given directions to prepare DPRs for the projects within a week period. He also appealed the public to provide land for the projects without creating disputes that would cause interruption in execution of work.
The CEC also assured people to resolve the issues with regard to compensation of land and trees by taking up the issues with the PMGSY authorities. He further said that the municipality has no source of income of its own which is causing shortage of manpower in the department.
CEC Khan said that the LAHDC Administration has already proposed to include more areas under municipality to make the department more powerful.
DC Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve while speaking on the occasion said that the administration will take serious consideration of all the issues mentioned in the memorandum. He said that most of the demands are related to water for irrigation and drinking and there is scope for fulfilling water demands under the AMRUT scheme.
For compensation of land, the DC assured to take up the issue with the concerned departments. He further said that street light installation in Baroo is already under the consideration of the administration, and further assured to take up the issue related to construction of public toilet with the concerned departments.
