KARGIL, JULY 09, 2021: In order to discuss the necessary arrangements for the proposed Rozgar Mela in Kargil besides various employment generation possibilities in the district, Secretary Tourism, Culture, Labour and Employment Ladakh Mehboob Ali Khan convened a meeting of the concerned officers at Conference Hall Baroo here today.

Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, Additional SP Kargil Iftikhar Talib Choudhary , Director Tourism Ladakh Kunzes Angmo, officers of Project Vijayak Kargil besides the concerned officers of all departments were present in the meeting.

During the course of meeting, Secretary Mehboob Ali Khan held detailed discussions and deliberations regarding the possibilities of employment generation through various schemes while all the heads of departments briefed him about the various schemes of the government functional at present through their respective departments.

The Secretary Labour and Employment directed all the heads of departments to submit detailed reports of the schemes functional at present with the updated data of beneficiaries getting benefits of these schemes. He also said that the benefits of various subsidy and other schemes should reach the deserving lot, adding he directed the officers to ensure regular monitoring in this regard.

While highlighting the need for exploring possibilities for employment generation of skilled labourers for sustainable earning, the Secretary Employment directed the departments like Horticulture, Agriculture, Fisheries, Animal and Sheep Husbandry to conduct various workshops and training sessions with the experts in these fields. He also said that to provide better market for local products like apricot, training sessions on processing, packaging and marketing should be conducted to enlighten the younger generation about the potential in this field thereby paving way for their employment opportunities. 

The Secretary Employment also stressed the agencies and departments related to construction works to provide basic facilities for the labourers like sanitization facilities, safe drinking water, separate toilet facilities for male and female labourers, proper rest rooms and other required facilities. He also said that upholding the dignity and to protect the rights of the labourer community should be the top priority of the administration.

Meanwhile, while discussing the necessary arrangements for conduct of the Rozgar Mela, Secretary Mehboob Ali Khan also directed the Deputy Commissioner Kargil o constitute a committee comprising of all the departments besides to ensure all necessary arrangements for its successful conduct which is being held soon in the district.
