Leh, July 19: Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Khaltsi, Suhail Ahmad, today conducted a meeting to discuss preparedness for flood situation in the sub-division.

SDM Khaltsi called the meeting as directed by Deputy Commissioner/Chairman, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Shrikant Suse, keeping the weather advisory issued by the Meteorological Department in mind.

SDM Khaltsi reviewed the flood-related response mechanism from the concerned departments. He directed all the concerned heads of the departments (HoDs) to stay alert in emergency cases.

Suhail also directed Station House Officer (SHO), Khaltsi, to restrict the traffic movement on the national highway. He impressed upon Block Development Officer, Khaltsi, to issue public awareness messages through Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and prepare the community halls in any emergency.

SDM Khaltsi also directed PWD to put JCB on stand-by. He also reviewed the rations stock from the Department of Food and Supplies and the stocking of essential items from the Cooperative Department.

SDM Khaltsi directed the Sub-Division level Disaster Management Committee to issue a 24-hour alert as per the advisory issued by the Meteorological Department.
