KARGIL, JULY 01, 2021: A team of Ministry for Home Affairs met with the eleven-member delegation of Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) for the first time here in Delhi today, said KDA Co-Chairman Haji Asgar Ali Karbalai.

The meeting lasted for three hours from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm that was attended by Minister of State for Home Affairs of India G. Kishan Reddy, Home Secretary, Additional Secretary, and other officials apart from 11 members of the KDA.

All the members of the KDA openly discussed the two key agendas of Ladakh that are the restoration of Article 370 and 35-A and demand of statehood for Ladakh, said Karbalai. The Minister gave enough chance for all the members to express their views and patiently listened to our demands, Karbalai added.

“The Minister for Home Affairs G. K. Reddy while speaking to the KDA members said that this is the first meeting and more meetings will be held in future days. He said that the government is concerned and serious over issues of Ladakh and assured to take up the issues and demands of KDA with the Home Minister Amit Shah. He hopes for fruitful outcomes from these talks.”

Apart from the two key demands of KDA, all other major concerns of Ladakh were also discussed in the meeting.

Karbalai said that this is a very positive opening where both the parties shared views and concerns. In the coming days and meetings, more issues will be opened for discussion.
