Leh, July 26: The 22nd Kargil Vijay Diwas was observed at the Singge Namgyal Chowk in Leh today. Tourism Department, UT Ladakh, organised the event as a part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations. Principal Secretary, Dr Pawan Kotwal, was the chief guest for the event.

Principal Secretary, Dr Pawan Kotwal, expressed gratitude to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives to protect our country. Terming Ladakh as a land of valiant soldiers, Dr Kotwal shared that their courageous acts in tumultuous times have earned them prestigious medals.

Secretary, Tourism, Mehboob Ali, said that we owe our freedom to the brave soldiers who fought valiantly against the enemies. He added that the contribution of the Indian soldiers in our society should always be remembered.

Earlier, Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Stanzin Chosphel; Principal Secretary, Dr Pawan Kotwal; Secretary, Tourism, Mehboob Ali; Director, Tourism, Kunzes Angmo; Assistant Director, Tourism, Jigmet Namgyal; Ladakh Scouts soldiers and veterans and families of the slain soldiers laid wreaths at the memorial plaque.
