Drass, May 26: One person died on spot while two others sustained grevious injuries after a vehicle fell into a deep gorge on Srinagar-Leh Highway near Batra Camp in Drass today.

Divulging information about the accident, Station House Officer Drass, Haji Feroz Ahmed told Voice of Ladakh that an Alto K-10 (JK16/0966) vehicle was on way to Srinagar from Kargil when near Batra Camp Drass it met with an accident and fell in a 16 feet deep gorge. He said the vehicle was completely damaged in the accident.

“There were three people in the vehicle. One of them identified as Mansoor Mehdi from Panikhar deid on spot while Asgar Ali from Taisuru and Muhammad Sadiq from Panikhar sustained injuries and were rushed to hospital.

After first aid provided at Drass, the patients have been referred to District Hospital Kargil, said police officer Haji Feroz.

The police officer said that a case in this regard has been registered under relevant sections of law.
