Principal Secy reviews flagship Schemes in Ladakh
Leh, April, 15: A meeting was chaired by Principal Secretary, Dr Pawan Kotwal today to review the implementation of flagship schemes of the Government of India in UT Ladakh.
Extensive deliberations were held to review the progress of the various flagship schemes including Health and Wellness centres, Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya (PM-JAY), NDHM Tech Platform, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban /Grahmin), Agriculture Market Reforms, National Animal Disease Control Program, Pradhan Matri Matsya Sampdada Yojna, Privatisation of Power Distribution Companies in UTs, PM SVANidhi (Micro Credit Scheme for Street Vendors), Digital Payment for Purchase of Fertilizers, Developing Districts as Export Hubs and PM Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises.
While reviewing the progress of the Union Territory, Dr Pawan Kotwal emphasized ensuring coverage of all the eligible beneficiaries under the flagship schemes in a time-bound manner. He directed the concerned officials to develop suitable review mechanisms to ensure that the intended benefits reach the targeted population.

Further, under PM-JAY, the Principal Secretary was informed that there are 10,924 eligible beneficiary families and 34,323 individual beneficiaries. Further, it was informed that 90% above coverage is already achieved under PM-JAY.
He further asked to take the benefit of the scheme. He instructed the Health officials that the best healthcare should be provided to the citizens. He also directed the officials to ensure the successful implementation of the scheme.
He also directed the Deputy Commissioners to ensure that each and every citizen is covered under this insurance and he instructed to cover the remaining in the next 10 days.
Talking about the National Digital Health Mission, he said that NDHM is going to bring a new revolution in the health sector in India and is expected to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and transparency of health services in the country. Director Health informed that 100% target is achieved in the Health facility and 99.5% target of doctors is achieved. He directed the Deputy Commissioners to cover all the population under NDMH through ‘Camp Approach’ within a period of 15 days positively and asked the Divisional Commissioner to monitor it.
Expressing concern over vaccine wastage, he stressed that not a single dose of ‘precious’ Covid vaccine should be wasted and also asked the DCs to undertake effective steps to prevent the loss. He directed the Director Health, the MD NHM & the concerned DCs to ensure that the people should be vaccinated in a planned manner in batches of 10 each & a vial of vaccine should be opened only when 10 persons are available in a group for vaccination. However, if there are less than 10 beneficiaries, then the remaining beneficiaries should be shifted to the nearest vaccination site.
Reviewing the Flagship scheme of Developing District as Export Hubs, he also said that pashmina and apricot has a huge potential in Ladakh. He also asked the officials to expedite the work and submit the Plan soon.
