Ladakhi passengers protest at Jammu airport as flight cancelled for second day

JAMMU, APRIL 19, 2021: Almost 150 Ladakhi passengers staged protest at Civil Airport Raipur Satwari, Jammu as their postponed Air India flight for Leh was not scheduled for today.

The flight that was scheduled to fly for Leh on April 18 (Sunday) was postponed for next day. Earlier in the morning on Sunday, it was says that the Air India AI-450 has been delayed due to bad weather. Later at 11 am it was informed to the passengers that the flight has been rescheduled for Monday, said a passenger named Lhundup Durbuk, a student by profession.

The passengers asked the authorities to provide them a written confirmation which the flight officials denied. The passengers protested and delivered the word to the manager; as a result some of the passengers got a confirmation message that the flight has been rescheduled for Monday and asked the passengers to appear on the airport, Lhundup added.

When the passengers appeared at the airport today (Monday), they were told that the flight has been scheduled for Tuesday and not Monday. The irked passengers staged protest at the airport and raised slogan against the airlines.

The passengers also include students who have to appear in exams in Ladakh.

A female passenger said to our correspondent that the mismanagement of the flight agency has suffered the passengers. The call for passengers to appear at the airport without scheduling the flight is wastage of time and travel money, the passenger maintained.

A printout of an email send by a passenger to this office says, “In view of cancellation of AI449/450 IXL/IXJ/IXL of 18th APR 2021 and to transport stranded pax, following additional flt AI449/450 IXL/IXJ/IXL for 20th APR 2021 opt as under:”
